Design Your Own Alphabet

If you can't already tell, I'm a big fan of Design*Sponge. I'm also a big fan of typography. I just love all the different letters, shapes and size, decorative and classic. They all blow mind. (As does Jessica Hische. The type Queen.)

So as you can imagine, I'm super excited about the new contest that Design*Sponge launched yesterday.

Design your own alphabet!

If you win, you get $500 worth of Veer goodies!

Girls Weeked Recap

This past weekend my mom and I drove to Hilton Head to celebrate her birthday for the weekend. On the way down, we stopped in Savannah to pick up my Gma and have some lunch.

This was at the airport. She was so excited to see us!

Bikes seemed to be big in Savannah!

My mom wore this button around all weekend! (It's become a tradition) On Sunday afternoon, her and my gma were in line to eat at Lady and Sons. A lady came up to her, threw her arms around my mom and kissed her on the cheek! She was so excited to tell mom happy birthday! (:

On Friday, we ate at this cafe. My gma had the best lunch. Tomato, bacon and melted cheese on baguette. I don't even like tomatoes and I scarfed my share up!

We had a laugh with Marilyn.

This awesome sand castle was inside our hotel lobby!

I'm not a huge fan of being hot and sweaty. So being on the beach when it's 90 degrees out is not fun to me. However, this was my kind of beach weekend. 77 degrees, breezy. It was perfect.

And I end with my favorite picture of the weekend. I captured this at the best moment, both my mom and my gma were laughing and enjoying each other's company!

Notecards + Poster

I just love a good play on words. These notecards have that down to a T. They definitely brightened up my morning on this rainy day.

They also carry this rad poster.

Girls Weekend

Tomorrow, my mom and I are going to trek our way out to Hilton Head Island.
(Side note: No work tomorrow! Yayyy!!)

My gma is flying in from Chi-town for the weekend. We got a great deal at some fancy-shmancy hotel. They're gonna play golf while I probably ride my bike around the island and take pictures.
(I refuse to lay out by the pool because it's almost November. Even though it will be almost 80 degrees.)

Here's some pretty pictures to get me excited.

PS. Anyone have any good recommendations on food?

Fireplaces

I am SO ready for Fall to get here. November is creeping up and it's still an average of 77 degrees out. I'm dying to light the fire and drink some hot chocolate.

Until then, here's some other great uses for a fireplace...

Plumen

Remember my Mason Jar chandelier that I posted? Well, here's another awesome lighting alternative. No shades, just bulbs. And it's still beautiful.

Ceramic Wonders

Aren't these ceramic pieces so beautiful?! Over at Paloma's Nest are some absolutely lovely pieces. I'm in love with the letter garland. Wouldn't it be so pretty hanging at a wedding reception?

Quirky Cookies

I love to bake. I love to bake things for other people. Sometimes I think I should have been a baker. These cookies make me smile.

Wool Felt Potholders

I can't sew for the life of me. I actually just learned how to sew a button last winter. But if some of you out there are sewers, this is the fall project for you. (Can you make me some while you're at it?)

Rainy Days

I'm such a fan of rainy days. Especially when it's on the weekend. I love to curl up with a good book and some mellow music. (Lately, I'm really into Rachael Yamagata.) Lox Papers came up with 10 fun ideas for a rainy day.

Bike Shelf

My beautiful blue bike is currently next to my bed leaning against the wall. This lovely walnut bike shelf might be a good invest one day. What a great space saver!

Have a Lovely Weekend!

I've been such a bad blogger this week. My dears, please forgive me. My work has been crazy and I'm having trouble finding time to find something pretty for you.

The roommate and I have decided to go to the movies tonight. We've been dying to see Easy A for sometime. Then, like a lightbulb, I got the scathingly, brilliant idea. Let's movie hop! (5 points if you can tell me what movie "scathingly, brilliant idea" comes from!)

The last time I movie hopped, my mom and I saw 3 movies at once. Great way to spend a rainy Saturday. We had a lot of fun being inconspicuous throughout the theater. Since I'm a little rusty, I found some movie hopping tips I'd like to share with you.

Have a fabulous weekend my loves!

Europe From My Dreams

Back in 2005, I studied abroad and lived in France for 3 months. That was some of the best times of my life. I took classes and traveled to different places most weekends. It was something I'll never forget.

I've been yearning to go back ever since. Next time, I might try the lesser known places and visit these gorgeous scenes from my dreams.

Lovely Words for Your Weekend

"Our Union" by Hafiz. A beautifully heartbreaking poem. After wiping away my tears, I thought I'd share it with you all. I read this poem from two point of views, both my favorite of all. The first, this is the depiction of Jesus. All He wants to do is love you and take care of you. The second love of my life is the same way, he wants to love me and take care of me. Thank you, Lord for sending me someone who strives to be like you.

Our union is like this: You feel cold, so I reach for a blanket to cover our shivering feet.
A hunger comes into your body, so I run to my garden and start digging potatoes.
You asked for a few words of comfort and guidance, and I quickly kneel by your side offering you a whole book as a gift.
You ache with loneliness one night so much you weep, and I say here is a rope, tie it around me, I will be your companion for life.

Dinner Party

Although I've never been to a dinner party like this one, I dream about holding my own one day. Jordan had the most dreamy dinner party. Under the Golden Gate Bridge.

PS. Here's some tips on how to hold your own dinner party at the Golden Gate Bridge.
